The Dick Lalor trained Carrigeen King landed the Munster Waste Management Maiden Hurdle at Cork today, providing Lalor's daughter Liz Lalor with his 15th racecourse win, thereby reducing her claim to 5lbs.
Carrigeen King, a son of Beneficial, raced prominently throughout, improved to lead after the second last but, on the run-in, was all out to hold the renewed challenge of Citizen Vic by a head.
Afterwards Lalor stated "Carrigeen King was 'dwelling' over his fences so we decided to send him back over hurdles and it has worked well. He likes goodish ground but we have no plans from here."
