The Ballydoyle trained Camelot was reported to be fine this morning following his win in yesterday's Irish Derby win at the Curragh.
Speaking after his The United States won the opening race at the Curragh today, trainer Aidan O'Brien reported “Camelot seems fine this morning and ate up well. Obviously the St Leger is the race we're looking at and he'll either have a racecourse gallop or a race in between.
“We will do the same after all the big races and wait a week before sitting down to discuss what will happen.
“To be honest there aren't that many options between now and then – the Juddmonte International at York wouldn't be an ideal prep for the St Leger as he'd be coming back to 1m2f – he is a strong traveller and we worked hard at getting him to settle.”
Regarding some of his other stable stars, O'Brien stated “the plan for So You Think at the moment is the Eclipse at Sandown next Saturday and that possibly could be his last race before going back to Australia.”
“Imperial Monarch (a non-runner in the Irish Derby due to the change in ground) will run in the Grand Prix de Paris (1m4f) at July 14 at Longchamp while Was (withdrawn from today's Pretty Polly Stakes) will run in the Darley Irish Oaks next.
“Maybe (another absentee from the Pretty Polly Stakes today) will run next in the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes (over a mile) at Newmarket later this month.”
