Trainer John Oxx sent out his third winner in five runners and five days when his Cailini Alainn landed the 'Hermitage Green' Handicap at Leopardstown today, scoring in the colours of Newtown Anner Stud and under Oxx's stable jockey Declan McDonogh.
Oxx, who most people in Irish racing would dearly love to see back in the big-time, also had winners at Fairyhouse (Frozen Lake) on Sunday and Roscommon (Affinisea) on Monday and following today's win stated "she (Cailini Alainn) ran two terrible races earlier in the year on heavy, nearly unraceable sticky ground although that ground (today) is possibly fast enough.
"She ran well at the Curragh in a slowly run mile-and-a-half and the nice pace suited well there and she won nicely.
"We'll maybe look at the Ladies Derby at the Curragh, that might be next but we'd want the ground to be good.
"Last year I didn't run her during the summer as I thought she wanted a cut but now we know she doesn't want it heavy either."
