COURT HOLDING LEGER ENTRY

Holding Court topped 58 entries unveiled today for the Rothmans Royals St Leger.

The French Derby winner has been announced a possible runner by trainer Michael Jarvis, who sent out Meadowville to finish second in the Doncaster race in 1970.

But his Irish Derby rival and Vodafone Derby winner Sinndar is not entered - no winner of the premier Classic has contested the St Leger since Reference Point won both races 1987.

His owner the Aga Khan has three other entries, including Queen's Vase winner Dalampour, in the September 9 contest - which he has never yet won.

Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien has 10 horses in the season's final Classic, including Aristotle - who won the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster last year.

Godolphin, successful in three of the last five runnings of the mile-and-three-quarter event, have Broche, Entisar, Hatha Anna, Inchlonaig, Melikah, River's Curtain, Roscius and Teggiano engaged.

Among six horses who could bid to give trainer Henry Cecil a fifth St Leger victory is King Edward VII Stakes winner Subtle Power.

Gerard Butler has entered unbeaten Saddler's Quest, who won the Gartner Derby Trial at Lingfield only to miss Epsom due to a setback.

Horses can be supplemented to the St Leger for £20,000 on September 2.
