This year's running order at Royal Ascot has undergone its biggest shake-up for years with several of the meeting's key races switching days.
With the newly-upgraded Prince of Wales's Stakes being switched from Tuesday to Wednesday and the Coronation Stakes from Wednesday to Friday, Royal Ascot will now feature a Group One event on each of its four days.
The one day previously without a Group One race was Friday but the course executive have sought to maintain as long a gap as possible between the Prince of Wales's Stakes and the Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown on July 8th, run over the same distance and a natural follow-on race.
The other changes to the programme are being made partly to improve the balance and partly as a result of the decision to introduce trophy presentations after the Group One and Group Two races, together with the Royal Hunt Cup and Queen's Vase.
Prize money for this year's meeting will rise six per cent from 1999's total at £2,578,500, reinforcing its position as by far the most valuable meeting in Europe.
