John Oxx and Johnny Murtagh appeared to have a strong hand when the declarations appeared for this Cork meeting, and so it proved, as the duo combined to land the two main events of the afternoon.
The brace was initiated in the feature of the day, the Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Give Thanks Stakes with Juliette. Oxx held a strong hand here with four representatives, but the winner was the only one to interest punters, going off the 8/11 favourite.
The Irish Oaks fifth had to exert herself to get the better of stablemate, Kiteflyer at the furlong pole and she may now cross the Irish Sea to contest the Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster.
Dossier also had to work hard to justify favourite status in the Listed King Charlemagne Platinum Stakes. Murtagh's mount was strongly pressed close home to hold the strong finishing Twiggy's Sister who ran a cracker in second.
Anchor was confidently expected to capture the opening juvenile maiden but caught a 'tartar' in the shape of Dermot Weld's Simple Exchange. The aforementioned Ballydoyle inmate went to post a 1/3 shot but couldn't cope with Pat Smullen's mount, the Moyglare-owned winner showing a good turn of pace in the closing stages.
Twice a winner earlier in the term, Windsor Dancer took the fillies handicap in fine style. The Ger Lyons-trained five-year-old went clear from the two furlong pole in the hands of Michael Kinane, to run out a comfortable length and a half victor. A Roscommon event in a couple weeks may now feature on her itinerary.
Locals were kept happy with Cork victories in both hurdle events, Ashpark Princess taking the handicap for Pat O'Keeffe, whilst Brigadier Brown ran out a comprehensive winner of the maiden for John Murphy.
