Bookmaker Coral today issued its ante-post prices for three of the season's most prestigious Flat races in Britain.
The Barking firm is betting on the Gold Cup and King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot and the Darley July Cup.
Godolphin's Kayf Tara, winner of the Gold Cup in 1998, is their 7-2 favourite for this year's renewal, with last year's victor Enzeli a 7-1 chance.
The Aidan O'Brien-trained Bernstein is the 9-1 favourite for the Darley July Cup, a race won by the Ballydoyle trainer's Stravinsky last season.
Last year's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe hero Montjeu has been installed as 7-2 favourite for the King George with Godolphin's recent acquisition Fantastic Light next best at 5-1.
Coral issued odds on the three races for the first time last season and decided to continue the policy this year.
The firm's spokesman Simon Crisford said today: "The Classic ante-post markets are in decline because of the uncertainty over running plans for Godolphin and Ballydoyle entries and the unexposed nature of the horses.
"A decade ago the majority of three-year-olds were aimed at the English Classics but that is no longer the case.
"These three Group One races are the jewels of the Flat season and as the majority of the horses are well known to the racing public they are perfect for ante-post betting.
"Montjeu and Kayf Tara are many people's favourite horses and even at 7-2 for their respective races we expect them to attract support."
