CONNECTIONS CONSIDER PROMISE OPTIONS

Ground conditions will determine whether Tote Cheltenham Gold Cup hope Strong Promise will make his return to the racecourse this week.

The 1998 Gold Cup runner-up is entered in both the John Bull Chase at Wincanton and Wetherby's Monkton Chase on Thursday.

And the Geoff Hubbard-trained gelding will run as soon as he gets his preferred good ground.

"I'm entering him up anywhere he's eligible and at the first opportunity he will run," Hubbard's assistant Chris Kinane said.

"He's very well and he wants to run but I'm getting stuffed by the ground.

"His long-term target hasn't changed it's just a question of where he gets his runs in. I hope he runs on Thursday, that will suit us well and get us back on schedule."
