Godolphin's China Visit has been all but assured of his place in the field for Saturday's Kentucky Derby after Laura Wohlers, trainer of Ifitstobeitsuptome, confirmed that her charge would not be taking his place in the race.
'I'm definitely not going to run him,' said Wolhers. 'Tell Sheikh Mohammed that he owes me a favour.'
China Visit galloped a mile and a half yesterday morning under exercise rider Shaun Murphy and is scheduled to work again today.
With no graded earnings, there is a slim chance China Visit would be excluded from the Derby field when entries close today should more than 20 horses stand their ground.
'It would be very disappointing to come all the way here (from Dubai) and not get in,' said Albertrani.
'He's going from two races to the Kentucky Derby. We know he is a good horse and I believe he will run a creditable race.'
