Godolphin's China Visit galloped a mile and a quarter at Churchill Downs today in preparation for next Saturday's Kentucky derby.
The unbeaten Red Ransom colt, partnered by his regular work rider Shaun Murphy, may work over five furlongs on Tuesday, according to assistant trainer Tom Albertrani. Frankie Dettori has the call in the Derby.
Albertrani said that Godolphin's other Derby hopeful, Curule, was scheduled to arrive in Lexington tomorrow night and hopefully would clear quarantine in time to van to Churchill Downs in time for training Tuesday morning.
Frankie Dettori will ride China Visit in the big race, but no rider has been confirmed for Curule.
Their trainer Saeed bin Suroor is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday or Thursday according to Albertrani, who supervised the early preparation for Godolphin's first Derby runner Worldly Manner last year. -PA
