Henry Cecil will run his first two-year-old of the season in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot next Thursday.
Cecil, who houses 73 juveniles at his Newmarket base, will unveil Vacamonte, a Caerleon colt owned by Prince Khalid Abdullah.
The Warren Place trainer employed patient tactics with his juvenile team last season, running just 22 of the 90 two-year-olds.
Cecil told kickon.com: "Last year's two-year-olds were very immature. They weren't ready.
"A lot of them came in late and that is also the case this year. If you have a child who goes to prep school where they enter in at seven and a half years old, and you let them in at eight or nine, they take a bit of catching up, don't they?"
