CECIL TAKES HIGH ROAD TO YORK

High Walden will attempt to extend trainer Henry Cecil's great record in the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes on the first day of York's Dante meeting tomorrow.

Cecil has won the Group Three contest seven times since 1985, most recently with subsequent Vodafone Oaks victor Reams Of Verse in 1997, a three-parts sister to High Walden.

His representative, fifth behind Lahan in the Sagitta 1000 Guineas, will face eight rivals on the Knavesmire including Agrippina and Miletrian who finished 13th and 17th respectively in the Newmarket Classic.

Miletrian's trainer Mick Channon expects his filly to improve on that performance.

'She's great, she's in good form,' Channon said today.

'It just didn't happen for her at Newmarket. She missed the break completely and it was a total mess of a race but that happens sometimes.

'There were no excuses but this was always the way we were hoping to go with her.'

The unbeaten Kalypso Katie and Embraced are other leading Oaks fancies to be declared, while My Hansel, third to Teggiano in the Fillies' Mile at Ascot last season, is another possible for Epsom.

Most notable withdrawal was Godolphin's Dignify, leaving Sheikh Mohammed's operation without a runner in a race they have won for the last two seasons.

Vodafone Oaks: Ladbrokes betting: 11-2 Petrushka, 8-1 Teggiano, Love Divine, Kalypso Katie, 10-1 Melikah, 12-1 High Walden, 14-1 Embraced, 16-1 bar (including 25-1 My Hansel).
