Former British champion jockey Steve Cauthen believes Giant`s Causeway`s draw in stall 14 for tomorrow`s Breeders` Cup Classic could be an advantage for the Irish star.
Many pundits fear a wide position will be against the Aidan O`Brien-trained three-year-old.
But Cauthen, a leading rider in the USA before he moved to Britain, told sportinglife.com: 'From what I understand he likes to be up there, just behind the leaders, and then fighting off the challengers in the closing stages.
'So to a certain degree there might be something of an advantage in being in stall 14 as he won`t be getting the dirt kick-back in his face.
'It depends on how the race sets up but after a furlong or so he might be lucky enough to ease over and save a little ground round the first turn- he should be able to do whatever he wants to do then.
'But it`s a vintage Classic and Fusiachi Pegasus, Lemon Drop Kid, Albert The Great, Golden Missile and Captain Steve are all good tough, horses.
'It`s going to be a race which is well worth winning and the winner should be crowned the king.'g to be a race which is well worth winning and the winner should be crowned the king.'
