Paris-based Texan Cash Asmussen was heading back to France today after a brief but memorable trip to his native country.
The jockey made a flying visit to the USA to partner Snuck In for his trainer brother Steve in the Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park on Saturday.
His mount made the trip worthwhile by remaining on course for the Kentucky Derby with a neck defeat of Big Numbers.
But as he was preparing to fly home on Sunday, Cash Asmussen was booked by Ron McAnally to ride ex-British Brave Act in the Grade Three Explosive Bid Handicap at Fair Grounds in place of Alex Solis who was held up in Dubai.
And his chance mount completed a productive 48 hours for Asmussen as he won by three quarters of a length from Where's Taylor, with fellow ex-British horse Chester House third.
