Cash Asmussen is set to partner Montjeu in Sunday's Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, trainer John Hammond confirmed today.
The popular Texan comes in for the ride on the champion middle-distance performer as regular jockey Michael Kinane will be claimed to ride for Aidan O'Brien at the Curragh this weekend.
Asmussen was on board Montjeu for both his Derby successes last year, at Chantilly and the Curragh before losing the ride to Kinane in the run-up to the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
Hammond said: 'I imagine Cash will ride him on Sunday.
'Montjeu is absolutely fine. It is dry and I believe the going is good to firm but I am happy for him to run.'
The mile-and-a-half race was won last year by Japanese horse El Condor Pasa, who went on to chase home Montjeu in the Arc.
Should Montjeu miss the race, he holds an alternative engagement in the Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown on July 8th.
Asmussen is looking forward to re-establishing the acquaintance.
"I have always been attached the horse and followed his career with great interest. It's very exciting to be back on him.
"We'd like to see him to get his toe in a bit as he has shown before that he acts so well on soft ground but the course at Saint-Cloud is one of the very best in France.
"It rarely gets firm, it stands a lot of racing and is very well-kept.
"At this stage of my career, riding horses like Montjeu is what it's all about and I can't wait."
