Prize money for this year`s Pertemps King George VI Chase has been increased by #40,000, it was announced today.
The Boxing Day highlight will have a total prize fund of #150,000 and will for the first time offer money down to sixth place.
Andrew Cooper, clerk of the course at Kempton, said: 'The increase of #40,000 in prize money to #150,000 is an excellent incentive for all the top chasers in Europe to tackle the Pertemps King George VI Chase and I am sure will result in a strong competitive entry when the race closes on November 22nd.'
Record prize money of #355,000 will be on offer over the two days of the Pertemps Christmas Festival.
The second day of the meeting features the #50,000 Pertemps Christmas Hurdle
