Paul Carberry will have to wait until this morning before finding out if he has the green light to ride Bobbyjo in Saturday's Aintree Grand National.
Carberry underwent an extensive MRI scan last evening on his recurring back injuries, the results of which are not expected to be known until 11.00 this morning.
The Turf Club medical officer Dr Walter Halley said yesterday: 'These scans are not like a normal x-ray. They have to be read by an expert who will report to the consultant who will then get back to me.'
Carberry's back, which has kept him out of the saddle since riding Florida Pearl in the Cheltenham Gold Cup 19 days ago, appears to be the only current worry surrounding last year's National hero, who is now as low as 6 to 1 favourite to be the first since Red Rum (1973-74) to complete back-to-back victories.
There is widespread confidence in the Bobbyjo camp that Carberry will be passed fit to ride the horse at the weekend.
The jockey's younger brother Philip has ridden Bobbyjo in all his starts so far this season and the claimer could be a contender to again take charge of the National favourite if something unforeseen shows up in today's scan results.
