Top Irish rider Paul Carberry is set to be out of action for 'a minimum of three months' after his latest injury setback, it emerged today.
Noel Meade`s stable jockey fractured his leg in Friday`s fall at Fairyhouse - on the day he came back from a five-week lay-off caused by ligament problems.
Meade said today: 'He broke his leg below the knee and has had an operation to insert a pin or a rod in. It is a very clean break and the operation has been a success.
'They didn`t say how long he will be out but it will be a minimum of three months. He is having a rough time.'
Carberry suffered his latest injury on board Meade`s Harbour Pilot, who fell on the flat on the run to the first hurdle.
'It was one of those freak falls,' Meade added. 'It happened on the flat and they hadn`t even gone 100 yards.'
Carberry is to be replaced by his younger brother Philip when Bobbyjo reappears at Galway tomorrow.
The 1999 Grand National winner, trained by Carberry`s father Tommy, carries top-weight of 12st as he faces seven rivals in the Irish Independent Handicap Chase.
Meade intends using 'the best rider available' during his stable-jockey`s absence, while Willie Mullins is searching for a partner to take the mount on Florida Pearl at Down Royal a week on Saturday.
