CARBERRY AND WALSH HEAD MARKET FOR JOCKEYS TITLE

Paul Carberry and Ruby Walsh are 5/4 joint favourites with Cashmans for the 2002/03 National Hunt jockeys championship, writes Alan Magee.

Reigning champion Carberry is currently on the 41 winner mark, two ahead of Walsh, while Barry Geraghty (28 wins) is the only other contender at 7/2.

Meanwhile, John Murtagh has hardened to 2/7 from 1/3 for the Flat title after moving three clear of Michael Kinane (4/1) with another success at Roscommon on Monday. Pat Smullen, now 5/1 with the Cork firm, is six adrift of Murtagh.

Cashmans spokesman Joseph Burke said, `We laid John Murtagh at 7/1 last month, and he was very strongly supported again at 3`s. In fact we took as much on him as we would on any of the big horse races.`
