CALLAN HURT IN STALLS INCIDENT

Neil Callan is to forego his two rides at Southwell tomorrow after damaging a knee at Wolverhampton this afternoon.

The 3lb claimer banged his right knee coming out of the stalls when partnering Tycando in the Quentin Durward Showcase Handicap.

He was unable to ride his mount out to the line and the three-year-old, trained by Karl Burke, finished last of the 11 runners in the six-furlong contest won by Feast Of Romance.

Callan afterwards: "My knee is very sore and I wont be riding at Southwell tomorrow, but we'll have to see about Saturday."

Three jockeys were in the wars following the Wakefield Novices' Chase at Catterick today.

Amateur Fergus King reportedly suffered a broken collar-bone when his mount Reel Handsome was brought down by the fall of Justin Mac at the sixth fence.

Lorcan Wyer, Justin Mac's jockey, was kicked in the ribs and hopes to return to action at Haydock Park on Saturday.

Tony Dobbin took a heavy fall when Noshinannikin crashed out at the second last giving the Grand National-winning jockey a nasty-looking fall. He suffered mild concussion and was stood down for three days.
