Hopes are high that Call Equiname can return to action this season despite sustaining a nasty injury at Exeter on Tuesday.
The 1999 Queen Mother Champion Chase winner struck into himself when finishing third behind Bellator in the williamhill.co.uk Haldon Gold Cup.
But his trainer Paul Nicholls is optimistic the 10-year-old could be racing in the spring.
He said today: 'He`s not too bad.
'He`s obviously got quite a nasty wound but we`re hopeful he`ll be able to run in the spring.
'At this stage it`s not career-threatening.'
Injury has blighted the grey`s career over fences with the gelding only having had eight races over the larger obstacles in the previous four seasons.
