Gordon Elliott appears to have found a good opportunity for Burn The Evidence to continue her winning sequence as she travels over to Musselburgh this afternoon for the Racing TV Cosmic Case Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle.
A half-sister to the useful No Comment, she has already made a successful trip to Scotland this year winning a bumper at Ayr and followed up in great style when switched to hurdles at Fairyhouse earlier this month.
Bloodstock agent Aidan ‘Mouse’ O’Ryan, a part owner of the mare and also a close associate of Elliott, indicated after her latest success that they are already looking further afield with a Mares’ Stakes race at Nashville in May on the agenda.
Her task this afternoon has been eased further with the Donald McCain-trained Nora The Xplorer a non-runner and Burn The Evidence looks set to go off at very short odds with champion jockey elect Brian Hughes aboard.
There is further Irish interest on the Musselburgh card with the northern trained pair Deo Bellator, in the Watch On Racing TV Handicap Hurdle, and Harel Du Marais in the Racing TV sponsored bumper.
The latter, who fell on his only point-to-point start at Kirkistown in November, is trained by Stuart Crawford and carries the two tone green colours of Simon Munir and Isaac Souede.
The formidable McCain/Hughes partnership provide the obvious danger here with Sweet Auburn, who has already won between the flags plus a Sedgefield bumper on St Stephen’s Day.
