Sheila Lavery's Breaking Story made the headlines in the opening juvenile maiden at the Curragh with a 33/1 victory.

This was a seven-furlong contest for unraced two-years-olds and 23 went to post in a minefield for punters.

Breaking Story, a colt by Dandy Man, tanked along on the outside for Robbie Colgan and moved ominously well in ninth two and a half furlongs from home.

He was given the office with a furlong and a half to go and readily challenged the leaders.

He picked up best of all to hit the front at the furlong pole and then resolutely galloped home to hold the staying-on I Am Superman (10/1) by three parts of a length. Playa Del Puente showed plenty of dash in coming home third, half a length further back, at 50/1.

Sheila Lavery said: “We really liked him. He's been ready to run for a while but I just thought he looked very shelly so I've just given him time.

“I wasn't brave enough to make smart entries for him but I suppose I should have a look now.

“Robbie said that when he hit the front he had loads more horse but he just kind of pulled himself up and then when he heard them coming he went on again.

“He's home-bred and he's another Dandy Man.”
