Martin Brassil may aim Desertmore House at the €200,000 Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown on December 27 on route to a crack at the BoyleSports Irish Grand National in Fairyhouse next Easter.

The lightly raced eight-year-old gelding won twice over hurdles and has taken really well to fences this season, scoring twice at Kilbeggan before landing the Guinness Kerry National at Listowel last time.

“We gave him a five-week break after the Kerry National and we have him in the Paddy Power at Christmas,” Brassil told Racing TV.

“The long-term view would be the Irish National and we might enter him at Aintree as well in case Fairyhouse came up a bog and we might divert.

“He has to get two runs over fences to qualify as you need six runs for Aintree and he’s only had four.”

Desertmore House carries the green colours of Bernard Carroll who also owned Brassil’s 2006 Grand National winner Numbersixvalverde.
