Leading jockey Rachael Blackmore is set for a spell on the sidelines, having sustained a neck injury in a fall at Downpatrick on Friday.

One of racing's most familiar names, Blackmore sustained a second-last-fence fall from Hand Over Fist at the northern venue on Friday and an injury has today been confirmed by the IHRB.

IHRB's head of communications Niall Cronin reports “following a fall at Downpatrick on Friday, Rachael Blackmore has sustained a neck injury and will not ride in the coming weeks, while she undergoes rehabilitation for her injury.”

Grand National and Gold Cup-winner Blackmore is best known for her association with dual Champion Hurdle winner Honeysuckle and had made a good start to the new season, lying joint-top in the jockeys' championship with 23 winners.
