The Ger Lyons-trained Brown Bee battled well in front to land the spoils in the West Gate Median Auction Maiden at Clonmel.

Colin Keane made the running on the Camacho filly and she had Dermot Weld's newcomer Sight Hound close in second for most of the journey.

The pair settled down to fight it out from two furlongs out but Sight Hound drifted across to the stand's side from a furlong out.

There wasn't much between the pair in the closing stages though and Lyons' charge held on at the post to record a short-head victory.

"She shows plenty at home and has a good pedigree so that's job done," said the trainer's brother Shane.

"She'll run at the Festival tracks and we'll work our way up but hopefully she can sneak some black-type.

"She loves that ground and the way the weather is, she has more options to come. She'll stay further."

The 4/1 winner (from 3/1) had been fourth in a strong looking maiden at Leopardstown on her return last month.

6/4 favourite Just Be Lucky couldn't make any impression on the leading pair in the closing stages, finishing three-and-three-quarter lengths back in third.
