James Barrett thinks Big Whiskey can go on to better things after he took the concluding seven-furlong maiden at Naas this afternoon.
Ronan Whelan got a good tune out of the gelding inside the final furlong to chase down front-runner Lake District
The son of Ad Valorem prevailed by half a length in a tight finish as newcomer Ramsa also finished well to grab second on the line.
The 13/2 winner had been fifth on both previous career starts, including at Gowran Park earlier this month.
“At home he works like a real proper horse and for the likes of me to have something like him is a dream,” said Barrett.
“Ronan was confident on him. He was in to ride him work since his last run. We weren't worried about the ground as he has a bit of class and is tough.
“When we get nice ground we'll step him up to Listed or Group 3 company. He's decent.”
