The Dave Marnane trained Bangalore Gold justified favouritism when he landed the Emirates Equestrian Federation Premier Handicap.
Colm O’Donoghue produced the 11/2 favourite to lead inside the final furlong and stayed on well to record a three parts of a length win over Drombeg Dawn
A delighted Marnane said afterwards: “That’s my first winner here and it’s a nice way to break the duck.”
“That was a great performance from a bad draw and that’s as far as he’d want it. He’s a fast ground horse, he really needs it top of the ground.”
“He’s in the Royal Hunt Cup so we’ll see what the handicapper does with him. I have Dandy Boy in that race too and I’m not keen on them taking on one another.”
