Ballingarry abandoned after four races

The final point-to-point of the season at Ballingarry this afternoon was abandoned after four races due to safety concerns.

The woodchip bridge which runners must cross close to the finish caused three separate incidents in the first, second and fourth races.

After examining conditions and consulting with jockeys the Stewards decided to abandon the meeting after the fourth race.

Abigail Lynch slipped up at the bridge under Roger Quinlan in the first race while Laura McMahon was taken to hospital was a suspected fractured collar bone after her mount Janeylad also slipped up at the bridge in the second race.

There was no incident in the third race but then Jansboy again slipped up at the bridge when coming with his chance under Derek O’Connor in the fourth race.
