Badb made it third time lucky at Cork as the Donnacha O'Brien trained filly landed the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) Maiden under jockey Gavin Ryan.

The daughter of Footstepsinthesand had finished third over five furlongs at today's Mallow venue last month and today quickened well to score readily by three and a half lengths from Silmaniya.

Trainer O'Brien, whose Piz Badile finished 12th in Saturday's Epsom Derby, later said “she had been working like a good filly all along and I was iffy about running her on soft ground here the last day but she ran a good race and seemed to improve for a bit of nice ground today.”

Badb ran green with a furlong to race and he added “she was left out on her own plenty early and it is a big wide open track but when they go and win like that, I don't care what they look like!

“She will stay at that trip, she is in the Albany (Royal Ascot) but it might come too soon and is more likely to go for the Airlie Stud Stakes on Derby weekend.”

Badb in Irish mythology is a war goddess who takes the form of a crow.
