14/06/0: Trainer John Gosden today spoke of his disappointment that injury has ruled out flying filly Lahan, from contesting the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot next week.
However, the Manton trainer, who rates Lahan the best filly he has trained since the 1984 Breeders' Cup Mile winner Royal Heroine, was optimistic that the Sagitta 1000 Guineas winner will be seen on a racecourse again this season although it would be later rather than sooner.
Speaking at a pre-Royal Ascot press conference Gosden said: "It's a bit of a body blow.
"If we had a banker of the meeting it was her.
"She was cast in her box and we thought we had sorted that out but she knocked her off fore joint.
"It is a disappointment but in any business you had better ride the punches otherwise you won't last the course."
Meanwhile, Crimplene, the filly seen as the main rival to Lahan, is well on course for next week's event and trainer Clive Brittain feels the racing public have yet to see the best of her.
Having raced in five different countries this year, Crimplene landed the Irish and German 1000 Guineas and should add to that tally according to her trainer.
