Montjeu would be favourite to beat 'world champion' Dubai Millennium if they met in Ireland in September, Coral claimed today.
He would be a 4-6 chance to see off the Dubai World Cup winner in the Esat Digifone Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown - his next planned race after his impressive King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes victory.
Dubai Millennium, hailed by Sheikh Mohammed as 'the best we have ever had' after his eight-length Prince Of Wales's Stakes win, would be 11-10 outsider of two for a 'clash of the titans' all of racing wants to see.
Running plans for Godolphin's colt do not currently include the Irish Champion - which had been thought to be his original September target.
And bookmakers Coral firmly believe the four-year-old would be up against it if he were to take on the French superstar in Ireland.
Spokesman Simon Clare said: 'I have spoken to our odds compilers and we all believe Montjeu should be favourite, absolutely to a man.
'If they met in the Irish Champion Stakes on good ground we would make Montjeu 4-6 with Dubai Millennium 11-10.
'It is a case of hype against reality. Dubai Millennium is a potentially great horse but Montjeu is like a heavyweight champion who has been in the ring with other champions and beaten them.
'Sheikh Mohammed claims he is the best horse in the world but for Dubai Millennium to be a champion he has to beat Montjeu.
'And you also have to consider the way the race would be run and that Dubai Millennium running from the front could set the race up for Montjeu.'
Coral would be happy to put their opinion to the test if Dubai Millennium is sent to Leopardstown after all.
Clare said: 'If there is any indication of a change of plan by Sheikh Mohammed so that Dubai Millennium will run we would certainly come up with live prices.'
