BOBBY SET FOR WEEKEND BYPASS

Tommy Carberry today revealed that Martell Grand National winner Bobbyjo is set to miss his weekend engagements.

He is set to withdraw the gelding from Saturday's Red Mills Trial Chase at Gowran Park and Sunday's Nobber Handicap Chase at Navan as he fears the going will be too soft at both courses.

The trainer said: "The ground at Navan will be heavy and it will certainly be soft at Gowran Park.

"I'm more inclined to run Bobbyjo in a schooling hurdle at Fairyhouse on Friday.

"I'm in no hurry and I could wait until a two-mile-five-furlong chase at Leopardstown early next month before giving Bobbyjo another race."

Bobbyjo, who won the National by 10 lengths last year, has raced only once to date this term, when in rear in a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse last month.

He is 14-1 second favourite with Ladbrokes to land a repeat victory at Aintree, where he has been set to carry 11st 6lb.
