Edredon Bleu will head straight for the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham next March following a gallant run at Sandown on Saturday.
The gelding, second to Call Equiname in the Champion Chase last season, finished 12 lengths third to Rockforce in the Elmbridge Handicap Chase, giving the progressive winner 28lb.
Trainer Henrietta Knight said: "He's absolutely fine, the race did him the world of good.
"It was a lot of weight to give away and the ground was not ideal but it is difficult to find a two-mile race right-handed on a track that he knows - I know Cheltenham's left-handed but he is better going right-handed."
"He'll go straight to Cheltenham now."
Knight also had news of her Royal & SunAlliance Chase hope Lord Noelie, second to Norski Lad at Kempton on his latest appearance.
"He's in very good form and he goes straight to Cheltenham," Knight added.
