BETTING SHAKE-UP AFTER ENTHUSED DISAPPOINTS

Bookmakers were forced into a shake-up of betting for the Sagitta 1000 Guineas as Sir Michael Stoute`s second string Regal Rose obliged in the Shadwell Stud Cheveley Park Stakes.

Stoute`s other runner Enthused had been at the forefront of betting for the first fillies` Classic but she was a disappointing sixth in the Group One contest.

Regal Rose, racing for only the second time and carrying the colours of the Cheveley Park Stud, forged to the front with more than a furlong to travel under Frankie Dettori and held Toroca by one length.

Ladbrokes now make Regal Rose and Enthused 10-1 for the 1000 Guineas with their stablemate Karasta the 6-1 favourite.

But the Tote have Regal Rose the clear 6-1 favourite in their list while William Hill have Regal Rose sharing favouritism with Karasta at 6-1.

Stoute was giving no clues as to which one he believes is the best prospect.

'I might be able to tell you a bit more after the early trials,' he said.

But Dettori said: 'You have to make Regal Rose favourite she has a good cruising speed and an excellent turn of foot. With a faster pace she would have been more impressive.

Stoute felt Enthused, the 11-8 favourite, may have just lost her edge and was unsuited by the slow pace.
