BEAUTY LOOKING FOR SUCCESS

Imperial Beauty can claim a first Pattern race success in the King George Stakes on the first day of 'Glorious' Goodwood tomorrow.

Peter Makin's speedy filly has been hit by a variety of misfortunes at the highest level but has turned in a host of consistent efforts and fully deserves a victory in this Group Three contest.

Last time out in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot she got into plenty of trouble when trying to come from off the pace but still managed to stay on for fourth place in a 23-runner field.

She had been beaten only narrowly in last year's Prix de l'Abbaye by Japanese raider Agnes World _ an effort which looks even better given that horse's success in the July Cup at Newmarket earlier this month.

With a fast pace assured, Imperial Beauty can sail through the pack in the final stages and give her paddock value a serious boost.

Give The Slip can also land his first pattern contest in the Group Three Peugeot Gordon Stakes.

Amanda Perrett's stable are firing on all cylinders at present and this son of Slip Anchor benefited significantly from the step up to a mile and a half when taking the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot last month.

Having been headed over a furlong out by Water Jump, he showed great determination to battle back and get his head in front on the run to the post.

This represents a step up in grade for Give The Slip but he is clearly improving rapidly and can keep up the good work here at the expense of some less-experienced rivals.

Strumpet appeals off a reasonable mark in the Capel Cure Sharp Nursery.

She showed improved form when winning at Salisbury last month and this six-furlong trip should prove to be no problem for her on breeding.

The Bet Direct Summer Stakes (Showcase Handicap) has attracted a lot of solid and consistent performers but nothing stands out as being particularly well treated.

Marcus Tregoning has had a tough time this season, only getting off the mark earlier this month after a virus forced him to cease operations for six weeks until the stable had fully recovered.

However his horses are running well again and Sir Effendi should be able to show the benefit of an outing at Newbury last time out, his first for 11 months, where he gave Aegean Dream a fright before lack of fitness told.

At Beverley the Sean Woods-trained Lucayan Chief can get off the mark in a division of the EBF Moorgate Maiden Stakes.

While Simon Dow's Lady Jo can make the long journey from Epsom pay dividends by taking the Dorothy Laird Memorial Trophy Ladies Handicap Stakes.

The four-year-old might not be the most reliable performer but she looked unlucky last time out and is handicapped to win.
