Robbie Supple switched his riding boots for bare feet and showed blistering speed to win the Racing Post Sprint run in aid of the Scott Taylor Appeal fund at Musselburgh racecourse today.
The race had been due to take place at the course on December 29 but the meeting was abandoned.
Supple and seven of his colleagues had 15 metres start over athlete Rodney Pitt in the 110metres event and, breaking very smartly, Supple never looked like being caught.
Pitt stayed on well, but was a few metres down at the line and Supple said: "I wasn't worried about what the handicapper was going to do to me, I just kept going and never looked round!
"It is good to see the old jockey beating the young lads. Myself and Russ Garritty were supposed to have an extra two metres start but the others complained so we started off level with them."
On a more serious note, Supple added: "We all want to do what we can for Scott, we all know it could happen to any of us. It was a terrible injury he suffered at Perth, he is sorely missed in the weighing-room and we are all hoping for the best for him."
Scott Taylor suffered serious head injuries in a fall at Perth in August and his condition means he needs constant attention.
There is also a charity dinner to be held at Dundee on February 16 in aid of the appeal for the jockey.
