BANJO CHELTENHAM-BOUND

Elite Racing Club favourite Mister Banjo will make an early return visit to Cheltenham for the Wragge & Co Finesse Hurdle a week on Saturday.

He has been pencilled in for Grade Two contest after runaway wins on the same course and in the Finale Junior Hurdle at Chepstow which have seen him made 4-1 market leader for the Triumph by Ladbrokes.

Anthony Bromley, head of the Million in Mind syndicate in whose colours the ex-French gelding runs, said today: "He goes to Cheltenham at the end of the month and after that we will play it by ear as there are other options for him in February.

"He could then go for the Stroud Green Hurdle at Newbury and/or the Adonis Hurdle at Kempton later in the month which is the same route we followed with Mysilv before she won the Triumph."

Henderson has always wanted to give Mister Banjo further experience over hurdles in this country and Bromley agrees.

He said: "We are very excited about him and obviously the Cheltenham race at the end of the month is as good a place as any for him to gain more hurdling experience as he only had five runs on the Flat in the French Provinces before joining Nick in September."

Mister Banjo missed Sandown's Tolworth Hurdle earlier this month and Bromley explained: "We put him in that race to see if it cut up but it was quite a hot little event so we decided not to run and to stick with the horse's own age group."
