Alan King believes Go Ballistic has a 'nice each-way chance' in the Tote Cheltenham Gold Cup in March.
And the trainer reports the gelding, who finished a distance second to Looks Like Trouble in the Pillar Property Chase at Cheltenham, to still be on course for the Festival despite suffering a wind problem during the race.
The trainer told the Racing Channel: 'I hope he's still got a nice each-way chance in the Gold Cup.
'I was very impressed with Looks Like Trouble and obviously there is Paul Nicholls' horse (See More Business) but I think the rest are all much of a muchness. We'll see.'
King was satisfied with the gelding's performance on Saturday especially after the horse suffered problems during the race.
He said: 'I was very pleased we finished second because I thought he was going to pull up at the top of the hill. He was struggling from the water on the first circuit with his puff - he's had all sorts of operations for it.
'The sticky ground really found him out but luckily Richard Johnson sat up on him at the top of the hill so he got his puff and ran on again. It's a shame but we've got to live with it.'
The 11-year-old has now finished runner-up in five of his last six starts, including to See More Business in both last year's Tote Cheltenham Gold Cup and Pertemps King George VI Chase.
'I'd love the horse to win a race - I think he deserves it and I think the owner deserves to win one with him,' King added.
'I think he's won over £200,000 but most of that has been place money.
'There are not many options for him but we'll keep giving it a go.'
