Seamus Heffernan brought his total for the season to 12 when partnering a 54/1 double aboard Glastonbury and Glowing Sands.
Glastonbury, well-backed from 7/1 down to 4/1 favourite, dominated the six furlongs Judy O'Rourke Memorial Handicap from the starting stalls, stretching clear after halfway to beat Sundown by four lengths. 'He only weakened in the closing stages on heavy ground at Navan last time, and the faster ground here made a big difference. He'll probably run again in a five furlongs handicap at Tipperary on Thursday,' said successful trainer Peter McCreery.
Heffernan followed up on light weight Glowing Sands in the Reeves Light Cider Handicap, quickening up really well early in the straight to beat Arwean by six lengths.
Paul Carberry was seen to good effect on Celtic Fame in the Blue Thunder Fast Foods Claremorris Maiden, just getting the better of a protracted duel with Hobbsford by a neck. 'I was disappointed with him over hurdles, but obviously he wants fast ground. He may go for a two mile handicap at Galway next week,' said trainer Ger Keane.
The champion National Hunt jockey later completed a double when giving Doesheknow a typically confident ride to take the Centra Beginners Chase, touching down in front after the final fence to beat Droumleigh Lad by two lengths.
Windy Project made virtually all under Timmy Houlihan in the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Coranna Handicap, and stayed on gamely in the straight to beat Lucky Grace by a length and a half. The nine-year-old gelding is likely to bid for a quick follow up over the course and distance this evening (Tuesday).
