BAILEY ON BACHIR

Jerry Bailey is set to team up with dual Classic winner Bachir in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday.

The American, who has been booked to stand in for the injured Frankie Dettori and arrives in Britain tomorrow, has been handed the mount on the French and Irish 2000 Guineas winner by Godolphin.

In the same race his compatriot John Velazquez will ride UAE Derby winner China Visit - 11-4 favourite for the Group One contest with William Hill who quote Bachir at 4-1.

Other mounts for Bailey revealed on the Godolphin website include Dubai Millennium (in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes), Bertolini (King's Stand Stakes), Lend A Hand (Cork And Orrery Stakes) and Teggiano (Coronation Stakes).

Velazquez is set to partner Sea Wave (Gold Cup) and Slip Stream (Royal Hunt Cup), among others.

But British-based Richard Hills has also been handed several fancied mounts, including Aljabr, who bids for a fifth straight Godolphin win in the Queen Anne Stakes, and St Leger winner Mutafaweq who runs in Friday's Hardwicke Stakes.

Others booked for trainer Saeed bin Suroor's team - which has won 13 races at Royal Ascot in the last four years - include Michael Kinane (Kayf Tara, Gold Cup), Willie Supple (Muhtathir, Queen Anne Stakes and Makaarem, Jersey Stakes) and Ted Durcan (Rhythm Band, Prince Of Wales's Stakes).
