Another Ambition clears the last under Ruby Walsh© Photo Healy Racing
After recording eight winners at the Galway Festival, Tony Martin continued his excellent run of form by completing a double at Cork this afternoon, as Another Ambition took the Mallow Handicap Hurdle under Ruby Walsh (also doubling up).
An hour earlier Walsh and Martin combined to score with Lancing and they followed up with the aforementioned twelve-year-old who was well-supported in the market.
He was 3/1 last night with Paddy Power, opening on track at just 13/8, touching 2/1, before going off the clear 15/8 favourite.
He unseated in the Galway Blazers on Saturday at the sixth fence, and turned out again quickly he raced in mid-division in the early stages.
He moved closer into seventh approaching the straight, improving to lead after the second last and staying on well from there to score by a length. Grove Field (16/1) ran well to take second under Robbie Power for Colm Murphy while Eagle’s Pass (16/1) was two and three parts of a length back in third under Jody McGarvey for Thomond O’Mara. Baidin Fheilimi completed the placings, three lengths back in fourth under Pierce Gallagher for Patrick Cronin at 33/1.
Tony Martin said afterwards: "He got a leg at Galway two years ago and he had been off the track since (returned to action at Killarney last month).
"He still retains a bit of class and it is nice to come back with him and win at the age of twelve.
"He was my banker at Galway but he was just unlucky.
"You wouldn’t think the run we are on at the moment would be possible. I’ve never had a group of horse like it. I have quantity as well as talent."
