Galway Bay FM continued their extensive coverage of the races this morning with Keith Finnegan again getting an update from Mulhollans bookmakers as to how they're faring out in the ring.
Eddie Mulholland said: "John (his father, the boss) is probably recovering from last night – he went out for a few drinks – dulling the pain of the last two days.
"I must admit, hands up, I joined him myself for one or two.
"We got drowned up there (at the races yesterday). The only result that went for us in the whole day was the first race and we took about thirty bets in it because it was actually impossible to lay a bet up there.
"I've never seen anything like it (the rain). We were convinced (that the meeting would be off). I've just heard John (Moloney, racecourse manager) saying that they never even considered cancelling the races but the rain that was coming down in the betting ring was (unbelievable).
"Unfortunately the only result that we could have won a few quid on we hardly turned over any money at all. We won a few quid on that and then it was just seven losing races in a row would you believe – the last seven races. Anyway onwards and upward today.
"The offices were absolutely heaving yesterday. The results went against in the offices as well but talking to staff and some customers last night there was a great atmosphere around town, in around the pubs, in around the offices and all that. Obviously people who planned on going racing for the day didn't let it stop them going racing albeit in the pubs and in and out to the shops.
"Look, it didn't transpire up on track and in the betting ring and all that, but in around town, in around the streets I heard it was great craic and with the results the way they were a lot of people made a lot of money.
"I think people brought the racing and track atmosphere into town and just enjoyed themselves."
