Annie scores for the Doyles Annie Other for the Doyle father and son team of trainer Pat and rider Jack put in a impressive weight carrying display to take the second race on the card, the Tom McCormack Memorial Mares Novice Hurdle. The 5yo winner had to carry 11-7 as she won a bumper, eight to twelve pounds more than any of her rivals. The daughter of Bob Back was entitled to come on from her first run over hurdles at Listowel last month and considering she beat subsequent scorers Glibin & Moncherie when winning her bumper at Wexford on run before that, her starting price of 10/1 seemed very generous. Always prominent she took up the lead before the fifth flight and stayed there for the rest of the race. She wasn't fluent at the third last and when asked to go on by her rider she asserted from the next, staying on well to win by five lengths. Haventabobphil and Sister Steve were both sent off at 11/2, with the former finishing second for Colm Murphy, the latter a further two and a half lengths back in third. The 7/2 favourite Crevea Lass for trainer Paul Flynn and jockey Davy Russell could only manage a disappointing seventh. Winning trainer Pat Doyle said afterwards: "That was grand, thank God. "That was Jack's first winner as a professional for me. He just came over today and is back in England tomorrow, riding in Market Rasen. "She loves that quick ground and she will jump a fence in time. "If the ground stay hard she will go for a winners hurdle next.” Donal Murphy
