Anam collects for Oliver Andrew Oliver made the long trip from Co. Tyrone worthwhile when claiming the opening fillies maiden at Wexford tonight with Anam Chara. The grey daughter of Soviet Star was always prominent under Johnny Murtagh and went on over three furlongs out, staying on strongly down the straight for a two-and-a-half length victory. "She did it well and Johnny judged it perfectly," said Oliver. "We decided to jump out and keep out of trouble. At the bend I didn't think she would be caught - unless somethinf sprouted wings." Murtagh recorded a quick double in the following event when 1/7 shot Yankee Doodle landed the odds. The Ballydoyle charge was to the fore throughout and shook off the challenge of Sublime Talent over a furlong out to record a three-and-a-half length verdict.
