Fourth in a Group 3 at Leopardstown last month having won her previous two starts, American Sonja bids for Listed success in the Prix Volterra over a mile at Longchamp this afternoon.
The daughter of Tasleet has been a work in progress to date, taking four starts to win as a juvenile, before easily landing her first win at the Curragh last October.
Following an impressive seasonal reappearance in a Gowran Park handicap off a mark of 87 in April, the Mark Dobbin owned filly ran with credit when stepped up in class last time. Christophe Soumillon rides the Joseph O'Brien trained raider this afternoon.
“It looks a suitable spot for her, obviously in the hope we get some black-type," said O'Brien.
“She'd probably ideally be better on softer ground (currently good to soft) but it would be great if we could get placed.”
Small Oasis is a second Irish-trained runner in the line-up with Tony Piccone on board for Jessica Harrington.
The Sioux Nation filly was last seen finishing third in the Group 3 Athasi Stakes at the Curragh in early May.
