Abroad completed an excellent day for punters at Limerick when benefiting from a very strong Pauline Ryan ride to prevail over Barrackhillboy by half a length.
Ryan punched the air while a huge roar went up from the crowd as the 11/8 favourite (2/1 in the morning) got on top close home. Abroad was the fifth winning market-leader of the day whilst the other two races went to solid second favourites.
A nineteenth success on the track for Ryan, the chestnut son of Halling, responded well to a wait until the last possible moment drive which is sure to have delighted his owners, the Trading Post Syndicate, a five-member outfit from Limerick, Cork and Dublin. He is trained for them by James Leavy. (EM)
