British racing`s rulers have acted to save the two Group races lost from Ascot`s abandoned meeting on Saturday.
The Princess Royal Stakes and Cornwallis Stakes, both Group Three contests, fell victim to the security alert which saw Ascot`s card called off.
However, the British Horseracing Board, in conjunction with the Jockey Club, has ensured that both races will be run.
Following consultation with Newmarket the Princess Royal Stakes will be run as the fifth`s race on Friday`s card (4.15pm) at `headquarters` with the Newmarket Challenge Cup abandoned.
The Chesterton Maiden Stakes and Fen Ditton Nursery will be run 30 minutes later than advertised.
Original entries for the Princess Royal Stakes will not stand and the race has been reopened, closing at noon tomorrow.
The Cornwallis Stakes will be run at Newbury on Friday October 20th and will now close at noon this Saturday.
