Leading miler Aljabr has been retired to stud, it was announced today.
The four-year-old is the third Godolphin star to be retired in the last fortnight following injuries to Kayf Tara and Dubai Millennium.
The son of Storm Cat, winner of three Group One races, will stand at Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum`s Shadwell Farm in Kentucky next year.
A statement on Godolphin`s website said: 'Godolphin now feel the time is right to end his racing career.'
Rated the joint third-best two-year-old of 1998 following his victory in the Prix de la Salamandre, Aljabr was prepared for a crack at last year`s Kentucky Derby but was ruled out with a minor injury.
However, after finishing second to Sendawar in the St James`s Palace Stakes, he scored his second Group One success in the Champagne Lanson Sussex Stakes at Goodwood.
Aljabr landed his third victory at the highest level in the Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on his seasonal debut on May 20 but below-par efforts in the Queen Anne Stakes and Sussex Stakes this year have prompted his retirement.
