AMATEUR LANDS LONG-PRICED DOUBLE

Amateur rider Tom Doyle upstaged the professionals at Plumpton this afternoon with a 1733-1 double on Ma Petite Rouge (33-1) and Parlez Moi D'Amour (50-1).

"It's marvellous to have two winners in one day. I've had four winners from six rides here this season so it's a lucky track for me," Doyle told the Racing Channel.

Doyle took the opening Cupid Juvenile Novices' Claiming Hurdle on Ma Petite Rouge by three lengths from the 4-9 hot-pot Iorana, ridden by champion jockey Tony McCoy.

"She may be small but she's as tough and nails," he said of the Noel Chance-trained winner.

The 7lb claimer then struck on his only other mount of the day, Parlez Moi D'Amour, in the Martletts Hospice Mares' Only Novices' Hurdle.

Biding his time on Roger Curtis's mare, Doyle came with a perfectly-timed run to take the lead on the run-in and come home a length and a half ahead of Moulouya, ridden by Mattie Batchelor.

This was Parlez Moi d'Amour's first run since joining the Epsom trainer from Denys Smith.

"I dropped her in as we weren't sure if she would get the trip," said Doyle.

He will not be rushed into turning pro. He said: "I'll see how the rest of the season goes and take it from there. I may turn pro next season or the year after, but I'll turn pro sometime anyway."
